We're LIVE!

Finish Well

April 16, 2024

We began this year with intentionality; we must also take care to end this year with intentionality.
When the Israelites were ending their time in the wilderness and about to venture into the promised land, Moses gave them a poignant challenge:

“Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life,” (Deuteronomy 4:9a).

Moses reminded the Israelites that unless they were intentional to remind themselves of what they had seen God do, they would forget. We have much to learn from this as leaders.

We began this year with intentionality; we must also take care to end this year with intentionality.

We lose what we do not celebrate. So celebrate! Here are some ideas for how to intentionally celebrate the end of a ministry year with your group members:

Throw a party! Ask everyone to bring some snacks to contribute. As you eat, talk about what the Lord did in and through your group this year.
Remind each other of the prayers your group saw God answer this year. Make a list. Praise Him for each one.

Challenge each group member to choose one thing (a verse, a truth of God’s character, a quote from your study) that they want to remember from the year. Have them write it down on the back cover of their Bible with the date, as a way to not forget. Share them.

Pray together. Lead your group through one-sentence prayers of thanksgiving and praise. For those who are nervous to pray out loud, provide an easy “script” to get them started. “God, thank you for…” or “Lord, this year I saw you…”

We are cheering you on as you near the finish line for this ministry year.
